- Type: TablePort 1Data table with a column containing the CAS numbers either in string or numeric format.
This component checks CAS Registry numbers upon their validity. CAS Registry numbers are used to identify unique substances. The input column containing the CAS numbers is chosen in the configuration dialogue and can either be of type numeric or string. The component checks if the CAS number contains white spaces or non-digits, if the total length without hyphens is between 5 and 10 characters and if the check digit is correct. The formula to calculate the latter and more information about the general structure of CAS Registry numbers can be found under the link given below. The output comprises the input table appended with a boolean column indicating if the CAS number is valid, true or false. Only if the CAS number fulfills all of the four checks mentioned above, it is labeled as valid. Please note that this component does not return the CAS numbers in cleaned or converted format. https://www.cas.org/support/documentation/chemical-substances/checkdig CAS Registry (R) is a registered trademark.
