This component translates a text column from/to the supported languages using Google Translate. It is a community component, not a KNIME node, and is meant for small-scale use.
HOW IT WORKS
The component calls the unofficial Google endpoint that Chrome's built-in translate feature uses (clients5.google.com/translate_a/t) and reads the translation from the JSON response with GET Request and JSON Path. The earlier versions scraped the lightweight Google Translate page (translate.google.com/m); that page is now behind a reCAPTCHA and the regular page is a JavaScript application, so neither can be parsed anymore.
LIMITATIONS
The endpoint is undocumented, and Google can change or block it at any time. Keep the volume low: if Google flags your IP, the translations silently come back as missing values instead of an error. Line breaks in the input are preserved.
ALTERNATIVES FOR DEPENDABLE TRANSLATION
1. Amazon Translate node (KNIME Amazon Machine Learning Integration) with an Amazon Authenticator connection.
2. Google Cloud Translation or DeepL REST API: POST Request + JSON Path, API key in a Credentials Configuration node. Both have a free tier.
3. An LLM via the KNIME AI Extension: Authenticator + LLM Selector + LLM Prompter with a prompt such as "Translate the following text to English".
