The Table Manipulator is one of the most versatile nodes in KNIME. Its functionality is similar to the Column Filter, Column Resorter, Colume Rename, various conversion node (e.g., String to Number), and Concatenate--all in one.
Although the Table Manipulator offers multiple uses, it is not always a better choice than using, say, a Column Filter and a Column Resorter. That is because the Table Manipulator is much less dynamic; there is no way, for example, to include columns based on a wildcard expression.
The Transformations pane allows you to select fields, order them however you wish, change their names, and change their data type. The Reset Actions button reveals a menu that allows you to reset any or all of the actions you have performed.
Finally, the Table Manipulator also lets you concatenate (that is, union) two or more tables. To do this, you must first press the small ellipses button (three dots) in the lower-left corner of the node icon. Pressing "Add Input Port" will add a new table input. You may add as many of these as you wish.
If you combine multiple tables in this way, you can control which columns are included through the Take Columns From: Union/Intersection option.
- Union: All columns from all tables are included in the output
- Intersection: Only columns that exist in each table are included in the output
