CASE STUDY 1: MAPPING AND ANALYZING POPULATION DENSITY PATTERN IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
This section uses a case study to illustrate the implementation of some popular GIS tasks in KNIME Analytics Platform (AP). The study explores the urban popula?tion density in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Users will learn how to implement attribute query, spatial query, attribute join, spatial join, projection, geometric attribute calcu?lation, buffer, spatial overlay, dissolve, and intersect in KNIME AP.
Data needed for the case study are provided under the folder BatonRouge:
1. Features County.zip and Tract.zip are the counties (referred to as “parishes” in Louisiana) and census tracts in Louisiana, respectively, both with a population field POP100 ,
2. Feature BRCenter.zip is the city center of Baton Rouge, and
3. Feature BRBLK.zip contains census blocks in East Baton Rouge Parish (EBRP) with a population ? eld as Popu2020 .
