Polygon to Line

This workflow conducts a comprehensive competitive analysis of King County, WA, farmer markets.

To use the workflow, download and run it on the KNIME Analytics Platform. For optimal performance using the Geospatial Analytics extension, make sure you are using version 4.7.4 or higher.

The input data has been saved in the workflow data area, simply execute the component "Read Dataset" to obtain the necessary data.

To understand the market trends, we created three rings around each farmer's market location, representing different levels of customer attraction. This helps us pinpoint areas where the local community may not have enough access to fresh produce and areas with a lot of competition.

To achieve this, we employed geometric manipulation techniques to convert multi-polygon objects into line string objects. This transformation ensures that the coloured representation of the influence areas is avoided, focusing instead on accurately capturing the influence zones' boundaries.

By employing this method, we better understand the competitive landscape and can identify potential areas for strategic interventions or farmer markets expansion.
