We show how different projection methods affect geospatial visualization by connecting two points to create a distance line between the US and Australia.
To use the workflow, download and run it on the KNIME Analytics Platform. For optimal performance using the Geospatial Analytics extension, make sure you are using version 4.7.4 or higher.
Subsequently, we utilized the same plot but applied two distinct projection methods.
The first method employed was the Azimuthal distant projection, also known as equidistant projection. This projection offers valuable properties, such as ensuring that all points on the map are proportionally correct distances from the central point and that the azimuth (direction) from the centre point is accurately preserved (Source: Wikipedia).
Conversely, the second method employed the standard latitude/longitude projection.
